Smart Shopping

Compare prices and spot a good deal.

Shopping is fun, but stores have a sneaky job: they want you to spend as much money as possible. Smart shoppers know how to spot tricks and get the best value for their hard-earned dollars.

Trick #1: Compare prices. The same toy can cost $15 at one store and $10 at another. Before you buy, check at least two places — even quickly online. A few minutes of looking can save real money.

Trick #2: Check the price per piece. A big bag of pretzels might *seem* expensive, but if it has twice as many pretzels as the small bag, it could actually be cheaper per pretzel. This is called unit price.

Trick #3: Beware of 'SALE!' signs. A sale only saves you money if you were already going to buy it. Stores put bright stickers on things to make you grab them — even when the price isn't really that low.

Trick #4: Make a list. Decide what you want *before* you walk in. Then stick to your list. The candy and toys near the checkout are placed there on purpose to tempt you.

Being a smart shopper isn't about being cheap — it's about being in charge. Every dollar you don't waste is a dollar you can save, share, or spend on something you really love. 🧠
